We are very excited about our overnight trip to Zoo Atlanta! Here are a few reminders:

· Your child will be responsible for managing and carrying all of his belongings, especially his sleeping bag. Please help prepare your child by practicing this at home.
· Send a light snack. The zoo provides a snack and a continental breakfast for us.
· Have your child eat a hearty dinner before we go to the zoo.
· Your child should wear Heiskell School uniform khaki skorts/shorts,Heiskell School T-shirts, and tennis shoes.
· Please arrive by 5:00 pm.
· Please pray for our trip.

We are thrilled to be able to share this opportunity with your children, as they learn more about God’s awesome creation, and continue their journey towards independence and maturity. Please contact me at fisher@heiskell.net for further questions.

1st Graders Spending the Night at the Zoo

Our overnight field trip is right around the corner. Thursday, May 12th, our first graders will begin the first of many Heiskell overnight adventures - a night at Zoo Atlanta. In the meantime, explore the zoo and read the Nightcrawler page at www.zooatlanta.org. We look forward to a wonderful trip with our first grade class! Please keep us in your prayers.

An Equestrian in Our Mist

Jasmine participated in the Halter class at the NWGHA State Qualifying Show on April 9, 2011 at the Bartow County Saddle Club Arena in Cartersville. She showed a horse named Jesse, and she won a first and a third place ribbon. What a special accomplishment! Congratulations!

Do You Have RWA Syndrome?

You might ask, what is RWA Syndrome? Well, it is RenWeb Anxiety Syndrome. The Symptoms of RWA (RenWeb Anxiety Syndrome) include:

o Excessive checking of your child’s grades on RenWeb.

o Breaking out into a cold sweat when you see a summary of your child’s grades.

o Inability to see the BIG PICTURE.

o Carpal tunnel as a result of emailing Mrs. Fisher about RenWeb grades.

o Loss of vision from checking RenWeb hourly.

If you are experiencing one or more of these symptoms, here is the RWA (RenWeb Anxiety Remedy):

o Check the Red Folder papers weekly, and correct mistakes with your child. This practice will give a more accurate account of where your child may need extra help.

o Decrease the amount of time spent on RenWeb. Maybe try checking once a week after you have reviewed the papers with your child.

o Remember grades are not a true reflection of your child’s progress and developmental growth.

Mild side affects associated with the remedy for RWA include:

o Random smiling.

o Peace of mind about your child’s development.

o Excitement about what’s happening in first grade.

o Clarity of vision.
